Data Sources & Accuracy

Where ProfileBolt’s information comes from, what it does not include, how matches are made, and the limits of public-source research.

Last updated: October 16, 2026

1. Our approach

ProfileBolt organizes information that people and organizations have chosen to publish. We retrieve it live, from the sources below, at the moment a signed-in user searches, and every detail in a report links to the page it came from so it can be checked. We do not buy data from data brokers, do not access non-public or login-only content, and do not bypass any website’s access controls.

2. Sources we use

We will update this page when we add or remove sources.

3. What ProfileBolt does not include

ProfileBolt does not provide criminal, arrest, court, bankruptcy or lien records; credit history or scores; financial or bank information; telephone-carrier or reverse-phone records; home addresses compiled from public records; government identification numbers; or content from private or login-only accounts. If you need regulated background information, use a properly licensed provider — see the FCRA notice.

4. How matching and confidence work

Many people share the same name. ProfileBolt therefore shows possible matches first and researches only the person you select. Additional sources are added to a report only when they are connected to the selected profile by a shared identifier — for example a Wikidata item that lists the GitHub account, or a GitHub profile that names the X account — or when you supplied the link yourself. Same-name accounts that nothing connects are listed separately as unverified and are not added to the report.

Social-media profiles found through search-engine results are always labelled “possible match”. They are not added to a report or its confidence score unless a source in the report lists the same account (for example a Wikidata item that names the Instagram username), in which case they are labelled “linked by identifier”.

The match confidence score estimates how strongly the sources in a report agree that they describe one person, based on how many independent sources are connected by shared identifiers. It is an estimate, not a verification of identity.

5. Accuracy disclaimer

Information in ProfileBolt may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, and may relate to a different person with a similar name. Public sources are written by individuals, organizations and volunteers, can be changed by anyone with access to them, and are not verified by us. Information reflects what a source published when it was retrieved; it may since have been changed or removed.

We make no warranty about the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of any result. Always review the original source, confirm important facts independently, and never rely on ProfileBolt as the sole basis for any decision. ProfileBolt may not be used for employment, housing, credit, insurance or other eligibility decisions.

6. Corrections and removal

If information about you is wrong, you can ask us to correct or remove it using the removal request form or by emailing privacy@profilebolt.com. Because ProfileBolt reflects public sources, the most lasting fix is usually to correct or remove the information at its source as well; each item in a report links to that source.
